Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I would appreciate any advice on how to remove the driver's side hood/trunk release so I can pull out the carpet. I would love to do it without breaking it. I removed the three plugs on the side and it still is not apparent how to remove it. The other side lifted up after removing two torx screws. I would also appreciate any advice on what type of tool is required to remove two of the four nuts securing the airbag module to the tunnel. They are unlike any nut that I have ever seen . Do they require a Porsche dealer only tool, so I can't do it myself? Thanks for any help.

POST 2Original post

I just removed this assembly last weekend.. Once you remove the three plugs there is a 5mm allen screw that you need to loosen. You don't need to take them all the way out (I did). The assembly is sloted so once they are loose you can lift it up. Besides those screws there are also a few Christmas tree style clips that hold the assembly down. See the attached pic.. I hope that helps. As far as the airbag control module, your right, I've never seen anything like that before and would assume that the dealer might have the special tool required. Thanks Keith

Keith, I'm going to go tackle it right now. Your picture was exactly what I needed. Thanks for taking the time to post and answer my question.

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks to Keith, I got the hood release lever assembly off. Does anybody know about the airbag control module?

POST 5Original post

Mark - would one of these Gator Grip sockets work on the airbag control module nut? Just a thought. Gator Grip Socket

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tim, that looks like it would work perfect. I'm going to call Silver Star Recycling and see what they use. If I can't find anything local, I will be ordering a "Gator Grip". It's a pretty clever device. There are few things more frustrating than not having the correct tool to do a job. Thanks for the info.

Mark, you are welcome. I forgot to mention that they have a 3/4" and a 1.25" socket. I can't tell how large the "special" nut is on the airbag control module. I would suggest you measure the nut to make sure you get a socket in the correct size.

Ummmm....Ummmmm...you do realize this was posted in 2007 and the last post was in 2007? Right? You see that? 13 years ago...

POST 11Original post

The module is in front of the stick shift. the p9259 is available from samstagsales on eBay for $49. forums suggest that long nose pliers w penetrating oil will work as well. yes this is 14 year old post but if you need answers you follow up.

POST 12Original post

seems like it's still worth adding to the original thread for those who might be following in their footsteps.

Unnecessary. Sharp chisel and a hammer and they come right off
