Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does anyone know if the washer/bushing that the screws go through to hold in the tail lights (circled in red) are an available part from Porsche? I think they are called something like a reducing washer or reducing insert, at least that the closest I've been able to find on the WWW. Kind of looks like these but these are not the right size...

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

HI... your link does work. I did go the Autoatlanta site and the only diagram I found was this, but it doesn't show the part I'm looking for.

POST 4Original post

Maybe #4 comes with them? BTW - what year and model? The 996 parts for 99-05 don't look like that. http://www.autoatlanta.com/porsche-p...section=905-05

POST 5Original post

The little grommets are supposedly permanently attached to the tail light. So you need to buy a new tail light to get new grommets.

I'm hoping that's not the case since they do just pop out. If it is, I'll have to get creative and see if I can source them from somewhere else or make something that works.

POST 8Original post

Are they plastic? If so, I'll grab one of my spare tail lights and see if my son can model them and 3D print one. His printer broke this morning, so it will likely be a couple of weeks before he is back up and running again.

POST 9Original post

They are metal, thin wall steel spacers so that the screws holding the tail lights don't crush the plastic. The closely resemble grommets used in tarpaulins that haven't been crimped to the cloth.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
