Not sure how many have seen this: https://rennlist.com/how-tos/slidesh...ic-look-621879 I kinda like it to be honest. Think it would look a lot better if they hadn't gone so wide. Proportions would look better on factory narrow and wide body widths. Probably quite the expensive undertaking.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

The Drive went into some detail on the build about a year ago... https://www.thedrive.com/news/31101/...-retro-bodykit
Man, I dig some weird ****, but that works about as well as this:
Sorry I think it looks dumb. Its like having a perfectly good German Shepherd Dog and giving it a bleach and perm to make it look like a poodle. it does look better than the body kits you can get to make a modern Camaro look like The Bandits Trans Am. *edit* or ^^ that ^^ ...thing.
I will always be a fan of people trying new things. In theory this was a cool idea, but they should have discovered the proportions were all wrong in their design study. This car looks like a 996 wearing a 911 skin suit like that alien from Men in Black.
I dunno. If you want a 993 or some older vintage I think you should aim to buy one. Frankensteining a 996 to look old(er) doesnt seem right to me. But, to each his own.
So I am in no way shape or form wanting to do this. Just saw it on Rennlists front page and hadnt seen anyone mention it. I do find it odd that rennlist had/has it on their front page when now looking at the date its from over a year ago.
I can't think of a better word than dumb for the "backdate"... For what it would cost to do a project like that (including your donor car), you could easily buy the real thing (and actually sell it if you had to)... Did I say dumb? Yeah, I thought so... BTW, it just looks weird - the proportions are all off...
I like it!

There's no accounting for taste! If you like it that's all that matters
The 996 windshield angle on the early 991s is much steeper than the 996, same with the rake of the rear window / engine cover area. That makes it really hard to create similar proportions. Otherwise it looks pretty cool, except that to my eye with all of the added bulges the whole thing is just much larger -- makes it looks like a GT and no longer a sports car. But this styling is not my taste on the GT car.
