Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

. . . take a look at the stuff in this store near my office on Madison Ave. in NYC. Guess I will have to start hanging out in the 918 forum. Oh, there isn't one?

POST 2Original post

So, a NYC Madison Avenue Porsche Design studio. Possibly the most expensive way on earth to buy something with "Porsche" stamped on it?

POST 3Original post

I walked into the one on Munich airport last summer and first thing i saw was 300euro ball point pen. My LUK flywheel cost me that much

POST 4Original post

Let's see... For $275,000, would I take a Porsche Design watch? Or a trio of new vehicles including a 991 GT3, new Macan Turbo, and maybe a new aluminum twin turbo ecoboost F150? "Hey buddy, do you know what time it is? I need to get home in tie to switch out the Macan for the GT3 hot laps...."

POST 5Original post

The point is ^^^ If you're actually considering the $275,000.00 watch, you most likely already have at least those other vehicles in one of your many garages That's truly a 1% sort of luxury

No that's a .01 percent luxury!!

POST 7Original post

I would have to disagree about PD watches. Until early 2014 they were built by Eterna and were truly one of the best time pieces you could buy. Most people here would chuckle at "Porsche Design" watch, which is understandable. But those watches were the real deal and are very well regarded by collectors. http://www.ablogtowatch.com/porsche-...onship-eterna/

I would have to argue that any watch that comes with a price tag of $275,000 has something inherently bad in its design. That includes the ones that trigger nuclear weapons and other more critical application timepieces!

POST 9Original post

^^ To rational person yes, to a billionaire UHNW person- no. I've dealt with a few single digit billionaires at my job. You must understand that to an average person and even HNW person $275,000.00 watch is preposterous. However, to someone who has a $150MM homes on two continents $275k is akin to $50. Once you are in the BBC, the absurd becomes the reality. Life becomes all about "how big/fast/crazy/expensive house/car/boat/watch/*******" I can buy so other BBCs get put on notice.

Not in my experience. Even those with extreme wealth seem to fall into two distinct categories... The first, including those who would think nothing of putting a quarter million into a fashion accessory, and the second who think that idea is as absurd as I do. Their net worth allows them to do whatever they want, but it has not destroyed their concept of value. The people first category are as often as not complete tools with a sense of entitlement larger than their trophy yachts. Huge ****** to be around. People in the second have discreet foundations and trusts instead of trying to show the world just how big their personal bankroll is, or are simply extremely wealthy without most people even knowing it, and tend to actually be decent people to work with.

POST 14Original post

It all depends. To suggest that the "ultra-wealthy" don't understand the "value" of money or don't have "values" of their own would be silly. Of course there are all types from the flamboyant outwardly showy, to the frugal and very understated (think Donald Trump/Warren Buffet). It's just that when it comes to the cost of "things", the "values" (that's a double entndre in case you missed it) can easily get skewed. In many cases, things that seem trivial to "us" (meaning "regular" not ultra-wealthy folks) for whatever, reason are important to them. It truly is, a different world that they live and operate in. So, back to the main point - $275,000.00 watch? Sure, if it fits the bill.

+1Billion...Could not agree more. In most cases, the more people talk about their money and show off their toys, the less they have. The truly wealthy are generally low key and don't feel the need to show off or brag. I've seen so many of the first type crash and burn. This town is full of both types. My wife and I get asked all the time, "So, where do you spend your summers?" My reply is usually, "Actually, we can afford to live here all year round".

POST 16Original post

I bet in the Chevy Aveo forum they are talking about how us Porsche guys have lost touch with reality and are driving around in these expensive cars when theirs does pretty much the same thing at a lower price. It's all about perspective people...
