Little back ground I have driven pretty much everything on wheels under 60K. So now in my new to me 996 C4 with the chassis having 116K on the clock. I am sure it is still the original shocks but they are OEM as are the sway cars and probably bushings. discovered a very compliant suspension when driven on the edge of lateral grip. the car would load up and then unload and loose grip. sort of like a slow motion hop. As opposed to my 95 M3 hopped up on AST 4100, stiffer springs and bars. The M just grips and goes on the same road 10 MPH faster and much more sure footedly. Porsche tire pressures right. so the question is do I need to do the same thing to the 996? or will just new single adjustale Koni's or Bilstiens be enough Not looking to make it a sledge hammer like the Bimmer.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

What year is your C4?
Verifying the paint colors on your springs will help identify your suspension, whether it is ROWMO3O or USMO3O. Gert would be able to direct you with that info. Lots of good choices for suspensions other than OEM as well.
Cool never thought to look to see if some one had swapped in something else during the cars life. 2001 C4. From all the paperwork it is on it's 3rd engine. this one coming from Flat six innovations.
Well, you got the right engine.
I guess a vanity shot is required
Nice looking car! As Barn said Gert Carnewal (a site sponsor) is very helpful when it comes to stuff like this. I bought my X74 kit from him a few years ago and it was plug and play + night and day for performance. Bad thing is it's no longer available. ROW M030 will stiffen and lower your car a little. Personally knowing how the X74 transformed the car and if I were to be in another 996 sometime I would go adjustable H&R sways with some adjustable Bilsteins. Throw some thicker drop links and you should be able to thread the eye of a needle. If you do look at adjustable sways......the GT3 rear will work on a C4 but the GT3 front won't fit....that's why I mention H&R....they have a bar specific for a C4.
Even a cheap set of coilovers completely transforms the 996's handling characteristics. Worth ever $ IMO.
Beautiful Porsche.
After 14 years and 116,000 miles I would guess it is time to freshen up the shocks and bushings and just about everything else in the suspension.
Agreed, on bushings and such, I need to get it up on jack stands this weekend and go get familiar with the car. These cars should be red underneath too right? It's mostly road dirt color Yuck!!!!! Yea my neighbors think I am wierd washing the ENTIRE car
