Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I just purchased an early production 1999 996 C2 with the amber bottom halogen headlights that Id like to replace. Will halogens from a 2003 Boxster work? Im seeing them being sold as a pair for half the price of the 996 halogens. And yes I tried searching but didnt see anything on this topic. Thanks

986 Boxster headlights and 996 MK1 headlights are exactly the same and swapable. I would look for a used set of Litronics. You can find them on ebay and upgrade your lighting. Makes a big difference at night and updates the look of the car also. Instagram Instagram

Can you just swap out both headlights and you're done, or is there more to the upgrade then that?

Yes, Plug and Play. The difference is if you put on the brights the Litronic projector doesn't move up to the high position unless you install the module. You only get the H7 halogen brights instead of getting the Xenon and H7 halogen with the module installed.

I ordered boxter lights for my 996, work like a charm.
