Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
11 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Nice to read something positive for a change. Thanks for the link jrgordonsenior.
Awesome, thanks for sharing!
My car...it saved Porsche! Thanks for sharing. Thought that was interesting.
And a simple, supply vs. demand explanation for lower 996 prices... (nearly 79,000 996 Gen1 Carreras were sold compared to 38,000 993 Carreras before it)
This quote needs to be a sticky... "For sure, a small proportion of 996s have suffered here, but nothing like the scale that forums will have you believe. Contrary to that, most run fine: we’ve even taken a drive in a 173,000-mile 996 Carrera for a recent feature and reveled in its ability to still delight – without any form of engine rebuild in sight (Total 911 issue 113)."
Good article, but once again I'll point out that any bad reputation for the 996 exists in only two groups: the fevered minds of some Porsche model snobs and Internet forums. In "real life" - i.e. places where you meet people who don't fall into either of the two groups mentioned above - the 996 gets nothing but admiration. As an aside, it's awesome that scoring is the new IMSB, which was the new RMS leak...

I read this issue and article, they bought it from a old lady one owner who pampered the hell out of the car. Impressive and reassuring non the less

I wish this were the simple truth. The problem is that the IMS story has gotten enough traction to escape the world of the forums. I have a few friends who have sold M96 cars in the past year and most buyers ask - and some run. Best defense is an IMS upgrade. Just do it.

Maybe true for a street car, but I've raced multiple 996's for 5 years and never had a IMS issue. Rods and rod bearings sure, but I don't even think I've heard of a 996 race car breaking via the IMS bearing. Drive em harder guys....
Thanks for the link. Our cars just rebounded back up 10-20%. Now if more publications can jump on the bandwagon and follow them we might have something here...
