Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

9 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Surely the answer is known here, though I found nothing searching the forum (or the interwebs for that matter). Removed my tail lights today to have a dent pushed and found what look to be signatures(?!), engraved and under the paint, of the tail light buckets. One on the left and two on the right. Assumed they may have been reference for assembly until I noticed there were two on the same panel... Anyone seen this before or know the story behind it? Thanks!

POST 2Original post

That's Jose's signature from a salvage yard. Look for previous accident damage/welds.

No evidence of any sort of repair to the vehicle. Very interesting to see... I'm really intrigued.

Oh Nooooo They sign all rejected parts at the factory

https://rennlist.com/forums/924-931-...d-built-2.html This is the German equivalent of UAW's practice of "signing" finished GM cars by tossing empty coke bottles between the door panels...

Gotcha. Thanks 5CHN3LL! I'll keep an eye out for discarded bitburgers.

POST 8Original post

As cool as it would be for the cars to be signed, the initials are more likely to be assembler and/or quality control initials...Gunter or Max signing off on the wiring...

POST 9Original post

Maybe they signed it after another beer break at the factory.

This is a source reference. Confirm exact model applicability in the original material.
