I just recently bought a 1999 base 986 with 97k miles. The seller stated it had an ignition problem, which was true, but he carefully omitted the fact it had a blown head gasket as well. I see no evidence of coolant in the oil, but when I pour coolant into the reservoir it flows right out of the exhaust manifold. The way I see it, the best thing I can do at this point is part the car out. Anyone interested in a complete motor that needs gaskets? Justin

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Swap a 911 motor into it. Win-win for you.
