Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Just bought a 2002 996tt with a great Boxster red interior, but the center console plastics have seen better days. If anyone has a clean one they'd be willing to sell, I'd love to hear about it. Thanks!

POST 2Original post

Not sure if you know about Bumper Plug s... They sell refinished/painted consoles and other interior parts on a core-exchange basis in pretty much every Porsche interior color. About $600.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the tip, but I was hoping for something a bit cheaper. That does look great in yellow tho!

POST 4Original post

Boxster red interior? Check out my center console recover thread. Heck, I'll send you enough fabric for free if you want to give it a shot. It's not boxster red, but it looks good with it

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Copilot, I turned up that thread in my prior research. Beautiful job! But silver carbon fiber probably isn't the right thing for mine. I actually like the uniform red of the boxster red interior! Anyhow, I suppose I'll just be patient and await a jackpot on eBay. :-)

I was thinking while driving my car today - you could probably do a very cheap, very reversible DIY. I noticed you really can't find Boxster red paint anywhere... but they do sell red plastidip. Pull your center console out, and then plastidip it red. If I recall correctly, the color won't be too bar off, though maybe a little brighter - then, get a can of "plastidip smoke" and just put one or two smoke layers on it until it tones the color down to the Boxster red. Worst case scenario, it looks terrible, you peel it off, and you've only wasted $15.

A friend of mine painted the center console of his 2006 C4S himself and it came out very nice. He bought the paint (in a spray can) from automotivetouchup.com. Did you look on that site?
