Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

14 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 3Original post

It is; it's a link to the YouTube mobile website. I watched the video earlier today, it's very cool! That channel has some other videos that look good, too.

POST 4Original post

Indeed it is! Cool stuff! That factory is incredible - I can't believe how quiet it is. I think they did a feature on Porsche on "Modern Marvels" - on The History channel a few years ago...I never saw the whole thing but what I remember was quite impressive.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The site that linked me to it mentioned something along the lines that they are not allowed to talk while they are working. Crazy, but appears accurate.

POST 6Original post

Plenty of recentage footage including a nice piece by How it's made. www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkZdfeI9oe4 Have we got pictures or footage of the factory when they assembled the 996 series?

POST 9Original post

Very cool! What are the white blocks the guy puts in the engine at 1:15?

POST 10Original post

I haven't seen this one yet although I have seen all the "How it's Made: Dream Cars" series on the history channel. This one is a stark contrast to the Ferrari factory. The 996 version had to be edited due to all the workers that had a beer in one hand or a cigarette, explaining why there are so many defects in our engines. There's also another one floating on Youtube about 991 being made at the factory that shows what I thought was the intake manifold turned 180 degrees with the throttle body facing the transmission. I'm assuming the editing was wrong and most likely one for a Boxster model.

POST 11Original post

Why isn't assembly oil/lube being used? It appears to be assembled dry? I only see it for the cams, but not the pistons.

Nice engine plant video! Thanks for sharing. You may be thinking of the National Geographic Documentary: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=toC1yOPXWoQ

POST 13Original post

That video clearly illustrated why we've seen multiple 9a1 engines with broken piston rings in less than 5K miles.
