Has anyone done this who could offer some tips. Looks very easy to break something and I don't really understand if it is heat melted or glued or ?? I want to paint the vanes to match my "aluminum look" center vents.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

I know this is a year old, but did you ever figure this out?
Yes and no. I got the thing apart. Basically spreading/breaking apart the glued together part. The vanes came out with brute force and miraculously didn't break coming out or going back in after paint. However, getting them back in scraped up the always vulnerable soft touch around them. So, I am sort of stuck now with what to do next or do differently. They aren't nice enough right now to install as is without coming up with a way to either repair the scrapes or install the vanes without creating them in the first place. I put this on the back burner now until I have time to revisit.
