'Listers, Anyone know what this is? My guess is sound deadening but I thought I'd post to the collective. Getting ready to mate the trans but I can't seem to press it in and it appears it will interfere with my ims solution install. Can I just trim it back to bellhousing? Parts diagrams don't show it. Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
7 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

What year/make/model/transmission and where is that on the bell housing. It doesnt look like any 6MT bellhousing on a 996 Ive seen.
'02 c4s manual, the rubber is in a 'well' along the lower perimeter of the bellhousing...looks like it will interfere with oil line plumbing w/r/t the Solution.
You missed
The rubber should be flushed and not protruding like that.
Mine looks like this
Thanks for the replies, mine now looks like Ashai's, I trimmed it 'cause it wasn't going back in. Searching Rennlist and other forums, some transmissions that had been sent out for service show empty cavities. Maybe someone like California Motorsports knows the purpose of the rubber inserts.
