Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I am new to the Rennlist and can see that there are lot of good information/inputs here. Hope someone can help me out with below or might have an idea. My Porsche 996 from 99 (manual) is making a noise (like a bearing there is on its way out) at a certain speed, when driving 90-105 km/hour with no load. That will say I can not hear it when I have the throttle on. It does sound like a bearing there is on its way out but should the noise not be on constantly? I know it is not the wheel bearings. I have had a Porsche workshop to look at it but they could not hear anything. Appreciate any feedback on this. Thanks Best regards Ulrik

POST 3Original post

Cars do make noise with moving parts in them. Syncro's, tans gears, rear end and others can just make noise from rotating. Could just be the rotations going on. The gear designs for strength instead of wisper quite do make noise. Super flat tipped gears will sound like a rock crusher at work and old transmissions like that were called rock crushers. I'd compair it to before going to sleep listening for sounds. You can find noises if you listen. New car new noises Oh yah everyone would love to see at least one picture of your car. We like to complement others on their choices especially if its the same model and color
