Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

19 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does this 996 look like a MY1999 to anybody? http://newyork.craigslist.org/lgi/car/352634455.html

POST 2Original post

Well, we can assume one of several things happened. i) The poster put the wrong photos on the ad. ii) the car has had an '02 conversion. iii) the dude is selling an '02 and thinks it's a '99. 2 out of the three options are a win.

POST 3Original post

Hi, Based upon the headlights and wheels...that is at least an '02...up to an '04. Misprint or someone who doesn't know what they are talking about. Unless of course the seller upgraded the front end? J

POST 4Original post

Actually, I'll add one more observation to my list. The rear bumper is not a '99 bumper, therefore my conclusion is that the wrong photos are posted. It's unlikely that the owner would have done a full conversion.

POST 5Original post

Good call....painted bumperettes? Also, if that car is indeed an '02...but it right now for that price...not a chance. H

POST 6Original post

Yeah, i was also looking at the bumperettes, but I really couldn't tell if they were painted... they looked kinda matt to me, but I wasn't sure. Edit: looking again I see that the left one is shiny. Nice catch.

POST 9Original post

the only way to tell is the glove compartment... none really facelift the dashes on these, ask for an interior shot. If theres a glove its an 02+

POST 10Original post

... and if that's the case it would make for a really dumb seller that cannot read their title, or a scam artist. I'm lost on how it could be a scam if a seller tries to sell you a car that's newer than he claims. The simplest explanation is usually true and I'm betting on wrong photos.

POST 11Original post

Definitely wrong photos. For someone who "might have" done a full '02+ conversion on a '99 (front bumper, rear bumper, sideskirts, wheels, as well as exhaust tips), you'd think he can come up with better and more detailed descriptions on a sale ad.

POST 12Original post

Where is Babylon? Is he referring to the ancient city?

POST 14Original post

Typical Craigs list garage sale crap. Scammers etc, worse than ebay.

POST 15Original post

Does this look like a 99? Its mine and it is a 99 C4 cab....I know a number of people with 99-01's that did the 02+ conversion so I would say it probably is a 99...dont buy it sight unseen though...lol... http://homepage.mac.com/jrhone/.Pict...lowbrakes6.jpg

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A 993 to 996 conversion. That's HOT!

POST 19Original post

kinda off topic but how much does the conversion usually cost?
