Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It appears I have 2 options for relocating my heated seat switches 1. in the upper insturment panel next to the lock switch and the PSM switch. since the wires come from up there it looks like I may beed to remove the radio and cliamate control unit to re-route the wires. (not an easy task & requires special tools) 2. On the center console behind the ash tray. This would required either getting an extension or splicing the wires. since they do not reach that fay back. Has anyone done this taht can lend some ideas or suggestions?

POST 2Original post

I was thinking of doing the same thing. My thoughts are this, if the wires reach the center console, it will be easy to do but the switches to me would be out of place (paired on one side of the car). Putting them on the rear console would be perfect but you have to lengthen the wires I would believe, but not sure of. You do live in Arizona as I live in South Texas, do we really need heated seats? I was thinking of just hiding the switches up inside the dash.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I have a call into Scottsdale Porsche to see what they do. I really don't want to hide the switches as it does get cold here about 4 days a year

POST 4 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Ok, project complete. I was able to pull the wiring harness up from behind the climate control unit and radio. It was long enough to reach the switches in their new locations. I did move the rear wiper switch up one bay so the heated seat switches would be aligned across the facia. The whole project took about two hours but I was moving very slowly and carefully. If I had to do it again I say I could prolly do it in an hour. Overall shot: Note the relocated heated switch switches: closer view: Before shot:

POST 6Original post

Yea, I bet getting down in the 60's is horrible! Your car turned out great! Very tasteful and good to know the heated seat switch wires are long enough without extending.
