Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hey everyone, Getting ready to buy my first Porsche and need some advice. I'm looking at '01 Turbos as well as the '01-'03 C2 (coupe). All things considered (depreciation, maintenance costs, reliability, track record), which would you recommend and why? Also, I recall reading somewhere that RMS problems aren't a factor with the '03 C2's and on. Is this true? Thanks in advance everyone, I'm anxious to join the club and I really want to make the smartest choice. Any advice is greatly appreciated! JP

POST 2Original post

Turbo. Best value. Best motor. Best tunability if you want to mod. And the RMS is an issue for all of 'em but not, generally and anecdotally, as bad on the newer 3.6's and even less of a problem on the TT/GT3/GT2 engines.

POST 4Original post

If you can go turbo then do it, but what are you currently driving? Many have said it makes sense to "step up" into the Turbo if you're accustomed to driving signifigantly less powerful cars. Just my $.02

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I currently drive an SL500... and by the way, this will be a daily driver when the weather is favorable. JP
