Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

If you purchase a car from a non-Porsche dealer, that has the original warranty remaining on it, does it transfer to you? I searched the forums, but all I came up with was info about transferring a CPO warranty. I think the answer is "yes", but I'm not certain. I might be getting confused with a CPO transfer through a non-P dealer (to which the answer is "no"). Thanks. tom

POST 2Original post

Yes, the original warranty follows the car. CPO warranties follow the car until sold to a dealer, at which point it disappears. Cars sold by p-dealers can have CPO under certain age and mileage restrictions, though the dealer is not required to offer it. Non-porsche dealers cannot sell a car with a CPO warranty in place. Porsche dealers cannot add a CPO warranty to a car unless they sell it. I went round and round on this one when I bought my car (just BARELY out of factory warranty) in March of this year. I hope I got it all right!

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Correct. I went to my local P-dealer and asked. The original follows the car. tom
