another few newbie questions As I sit and look through hundreds of picture of all your beautiful Cars, im realizing that no one else has the ugly headlight washers on their car. Is it just me? Just 2001? or have all of you put a new fronts on your cars? How do you get the shifter & boot off to replace them? I dont want to force anything and I have a new sprt shifter coming

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

In the 99-01 cars that is how they were. However, in the 02+ cars they are hidden under the silver disc to the side of the headlight. As for the shifter if it is just the standard one it is held on by friction. Pull VERY hard stright up, but protect your face. Many guys have smacked themselves in the face. Also, don't forget to lift up the surrounding boot BEFORE you yank the shifter up. It just POPS in and out. Lift up from the side closest to the ashtray area and lift up and toward the front center console where your radio is. One caveat.....if you have anything other than the standard shifter you will need to make sure aqnd lift the boot up like you are lifting up a skirt up over the head to access the allen head (torx head) screw.
Thx LVDell Seem simple enough. I'll be sure and post the pix of my black eye as soon as I'm done
hehehe He who doesn't heed the warning receives the gift of a black eye!
Dominick As Dell said, be careful when you pull the shifter **** off of the shifter. It will take a lot of force, and it will come loose suddenly. You can literally smack yourself in the face if this happens, so be very careful! I took two screwdrivers and placed one on each side of the shifter shaft. The screwdrivers face in opposite directions so you can hold the handle of one screwdriver and the shaft of the other screwdriver in each hand. Put the screwdrivers under the shift **** collar. Sit in the driver's seat and place your left forearm on your right knee. Grasp the left side of the two screwdrivers (already on each side of the shifter shaft) with your left hand, with your palm facing up. Next, grasp the right side of the screwdrivers with your right hand (also facing palm up). You can use your left knee as a fulcrum and pry the **** off. It may go flying straight up, but at least you won't knock your teeth out. Hope this helps.
Gota Thanks for the tip - i'll kjeep you guys posted
