Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Porsche recommends 36/44 tire pressures, which I had been fairly close to with my Dunlop Sport 9090's for street use. The treadwear indicated I might have been overinflating the rear tires. I just put on a new set of Kumho Ecsta 712's yesterday. The thing is the rear tires have written on them "Max Pressure 44 psi". I've sent them an e-mail asking if this is correct, but don't expect to get any enlightment from them (many companies are legally afraid to make suggestions). Any suggestions for which I should follow. Thanks for any tips!

POST 2Original post

36/44 sounds a little high. Most 993 users recommend something like 36/38 and your previous experience would seem to back up the theory that 44 is too high.

POST 3Original post

Recc pressures are 36/44. Too high for my taste. I usually go 32/38, both for street and track. That's on OEM tires, though. Tire pressure is one of the most contested items on Porsche boards. Do a search, and you'll be up all night reading excellent points, unfortunately not all agreeing with one another. Happy reading!!

POST 4Original post

Based on tire wear at nearly 15,000 miles on Pirelli P-Zero Rossos, 36 was right on for the fronts but 44 was overinflated for the rears on our C2 Coupe.......
