Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi, I am looking at getting a 996 cab. Now I know that the 01 model had stiffened body and glass rear window. I also thought that facelift indicated the new engine and I presumed these other enhancements. However, doing a search through cars for sale I'm seeing some that are supposedly 3.6ltr but no facelift. Are these cars actually 3.6ltr? Would they have the stiffened body? Help - I'm confused!

POST 2Original post

I thought that the 3.6L; facelift; and stiffening all occured for MY02 which began production in Sep. 01.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Sorry, I meant MY02, just that here in the UK they are still called 01 cars. But you are under the impression that these all occurred together? If so the non-facelift ones are actually 3.4 ltr.

POST 4Original post

I see that alot on dealer ads for 99, 2000 and 2001. They just have the wrong engine size on the Ad.

POST 5Original post

I am on the UK Boxster board and they are almost always off on the model year due to the way you register your cars. Forget when the car was made or register. The 3.6 and the glass window on the cab both started for model year 2002. Also the new style headlights and instrument cluster.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Great, thanks for clarifying - no facelift, no more power or stiffening!
