Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

For a few months now I have noticed a moderate grinding, rubbing wierd noise coming from just underneath the gear shift housing. I don't hear it when I am not accelerating but, as soon as I do the noise appears and stays until I deccelerate. Also, when the noise appears if I push the gear shift further in the direction of the gear it's it i.e., in 3rd gear I push the shifter forward the noise goes away. I originally thought the noise was part of the console housing surrounding the transmission bit, I now think it has something to do with the transmission. The car runs fine it's just this noise that is driving me crazy. Any ideas??????
