Just ordered a 2004 C4S Coupe and was wondering what options I have for a seat belt harness. I plan on participating in autocross and some lapping sessions at the track. I hope to keep the existing seat stock. I have settled on the comfort seat because I needed the lumbar support but realize that I am compromising on the lateral support needed for more spirited driving. I have read about the possibility of a harness bar (speedware) or a roll bar to help me to this end. I am trying to avoid doing something to the car that is hard to reverse since it will be leased and will be my daily driver. Looking for suggestions or ideas. Thank you

For the occasional DE and autocross, you have several options. Stay standard. One trick is to recline the seat a few degrees, jerk the belt so it locks, then bring the seat back upright. The belt will keep you snug against the seat more than if it were not locked. Harness bar and harness. I have the BK harness bar and Shroth 6 point harness. Once the mounting brackets are in, all you need to do is work with 4 bolts to take the bar and harness out for regular driving and in for serious driving. You can still use the rear seats since you can easily take the bar out. You leave the stock 3 point belts in. Easy as pie. Keep all the original hardware, and it will be just as easy to take everything off including the brackets when it's time to return the car. You have to realize the perceived safety shortcomings of this set-up. I don't believe in those shortcomings, FWIW. Roll bar. Requires quite a bit of work to get in and take out, so it's pretty much a permannent thing. A one time put in when new and a one time take out when selling is feasible. Goodbye to the rear seats. Realize that there is also a perceived safety shortcoming for street driving for this set-up.
