OK, I sold my 1987 911 the last week of June and was Porsche less for a month until I could pick up this 996 Carrera 4. I purchased it from my brother-in-law. Longest month ever. All I can say is if I still owned my 911, I would never drive it. The 996 is so nice compared to the older car.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Congrats!! She looks great.
Both are great cars but no comparison to drive.
Congrats!!! Btw, I sold my 89 Carrera cab almost ten years ago and I still sometimes miss it. Your comments about 996 made me feel better Patrick 03C4S
Nice upgrade. Interesting to hear how you like the water pumper better than the air sucker. I loved my 79' SC, but I agree with you, the newer 911 is so improved in so many ways. Welcome to the club.
Congratulations on the upgrade. It looks like a beauty, we need a few more pictures of course Whats the mileage?
Beautiful car. My wife and i have had six 356 Porsches, 912s, 912e,911L, two 3.2 Carreras and my 964 cab. Love my 996 as a daily driver and cab for weekends. The 996 over the past 7 months of ownership has been an amazing car. The 964 cured many of my 3.2 issues-trans and ac. However, 996 has (to me) even better steering, handling and ac. At the bargain price they are today, it was a no brainer and I still keep my convertible. OK, I finally took the time to snap some pictures, required on any Porsche forum. Mileage of my new girl is 39,996 miles when I picked her up.
Looks like a very well cared for original Porsche. You struck on lucky buying it from a relation. Nice mileage.
I drive my C4S about two days a week and I'm puzzled when I hear people say older Porsches more raw as I think 996 is plenty raw for me compared with my CLK55 cab...now if only I had a Tip/PDK cab for my wife so I can have my CLK back Patrick 03 C4S
Before I bought the 996, I too thought my 911 had a much more raw feeling. Now after over 1000 miles behind the wheel of the 996, I think the rawness of the 911 was due to the lack of decent AC, the windows were always down, you could always smell the slight burning of oil, the sound was louder(cat bypass pipe and Monty muffler), no power steering and noticeably louder in the cockpit due to road noise. The 996 is raw in a different way, mostly when you are pressing hard on the gas. This thing is a raw powerhouse that is comfortable, quiet and glued to the road at speeds much faster than the 911 was comfortable at.
I used to know a Gary Bailey that lived in Kinnelon, any relation?
