Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

2 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I really need someone to take the plastic cover off their shaft and give it a wiggle and let me know the noise situation as I am now stumped with this shaft being my issue but I am not sure what it should sound like... This is what mine sounds like http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y2Yyn...r_embedded#t=0 I took mine to a Porsche garage and they said it's a diff noise as they couldn't find anything loose etc and they played with the wheels and said the kncoking was normal when you spin it in the air. But then he took it for a test drive and game back and said the knock sounds like a diff issue... The only knockey area on the diff is this shaft area for me and I am not sure what it should sound like. Can a kind soul chip in !

POST 2Original post

I told you DIFF problem in a previous posting. ON another of your threads about this problem. Whatever it sounds like it should not be knocking. Its a worn cog in the differential. Either end of that shaft inside. Hey I am not a mechanic and have never worked on these engines. The old engines back in the 60s if you got a clunk when you accelerated or decellorated then it was the rear differential gear box center of the back axel or worn hardy spicer on the prop shaft. Sounded like the same sound to me when I heard your previous video.
