Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

10 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I almost purchased a new exhaust for my 996 until I realized 1) the stock exhaust was stainless steel 2) how throaty the stock exhaust can sound with a simple hack. I sent a gundo hack video to a welder I know in Corona, brought him my mufflers, and he knocked it out for $300. Id post the before and after videos but I believe the file size is restricted.

POST 4Original post

I am having it done and picking them up tomorrow. 150.00 bucks for both is a good deal. The muffler shop had done several already and knew exactly what I wanted.

from what Ive read the car should still pass smog since the modification takes place after the catalytic converter.

POST 6Original post

I just had it done this morning, $250 for stainless. He recognized exactly what I was looking for, took about an hour.

POST 7Original post

Yep, I have had it for about 3.5 years now. One of the top 5 best cheap mods out there. Another is the orange cap mod.

POST 9Original post

Any recommendations for shops in Los Angeles area that will do this?

Mine are: 1.) Gundo Hack 2.) Orange Cap Mod (or Red Cap Mod) 3.) Cup Holders: https://www.ultimatecupholders.com/containers.html 4.) Audio system upgrade: install Double DIN Airplay head unit in place of single DIN unit by moving HVAC controls to the bottom of the console where the cubby storage is. 5.) Speaker replacements. The regular stock speakers (Non-BOSE) are probably worn out.
