Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

6 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I added coolant, got up to 2.5 k. Did the 30 second 5k blips. Just drove around town with relief valve open at 2.5k hitting 5k every so often. Coolant dropped but not much. Should I have the cabin temp turned on? I dont think so but watched a video this morning and the guy had the temp so it showed hi but the fan was set at its lowest level. He was doing a 986 and mines a 996 do I think the same procedure. It 40 F here today, the car got up to operating temp and stayed there. Dont think the fans ever turned on though. Suggestions and Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays! Thanks.

POST 2Original post

I always turn on the heater, just good practice and ensures no random air pockets.

POST 4Original post

Worth having a vacuum refill tool if you work on your 996 regularly

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Tool is a great idea but I hope to never do this again. So it sounds like I should turn the heat on?

Like he said, coolant is always circulating through the heater core. Turning on the heat does nothing.
