Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Anyone planning on going? I live ~45 minutes away and am definitely going. If a bunch of people are going/are interested in meeting I'd be happy to organize something.

POST 2Original post

Considering it. I went last year, but I was underwhelmed. It was breezy and chilly last year, and that may have kept the attendance down.

Turnout here is amazing. Pics tonight.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Holy crap. Some dude just took a picture of my car.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Went to the Hershey Swap Meet today with my dad. Hes not really a car guy but he agreed to come along. He enjoyed himself a lot more than I would have thought. Tooons of people showed up today; if this wasnt their biggest turnout Id be surprised. Great weather too. Rennlist parking: Heres a few pics of the Porsche parking lots, just rows and rows of them: A couple Carrera GTs were in attendance: One car in the concours section made me twitch, see if you can figure out why: Some random cars I liked: The anti-Hurdi badging: Fun with license plates: My biggest fan:

POST 8Original post

Just got back from there ... drove down from NY yesterday to my folks' house near Reading. Went to the swap meet this morning. OK as a swap meet, lots of fun as a car show. Saw some cars there that I've only seen in pictures. And the best part is, these are actually cars that people drive. How often are you sitting at a light and a beautifully restored 356 Speedster pulls up next to you? Very cool.

The 964 with the V8??? Nice pics Miller, thanks for sharing.

No. The speedster in the concourse section with the haphazardly slapped on registration sticker on the license plate.

POST 12 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

It's a concours. Look at how perfect my car is and judge me appropriately! Are my valve stem caps all twisted the same number of rotations? Is the glove box liner material authentic?

POST 13 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Oh. I forgot the trans am 911 with speed yellow louvers. Will post soon.

My post was supposed to say "stick(l)er" and be a play on the word sticker. Oh well, don't feel too bad, no one else laughs at my jokes either. BTW, I really like the pic of the Orange MKI 997 GT3 RS. I'd love to pick up one of these someday, however I don't see the prices of these falling anytime in the foreseeable future(especially given all of the problems with the 991 GT3s).

POST 15 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I was on my phone and the bolded stickler didn’t come through on the app. I like your joke. {hug} Some more pics: The promised transam 914: 1968 window stickers showing a sales price of about $5,000 (not sure you can see it, but there are $15 and $20 options for a single loudspeaker and an antennae). Because race car: Another car that caught my eye: I really enjoyed it and talking to some folks who love their cars was a lot of fun. The guys who salvaged my 99 (717 rebuildables) were there. It was oddly fun talking to them; like a walk down memory lane where the lane suddenly rolls over at high speed but somehow you are ok. Final note: right after we parked we immediately stumbled on the first of the two Carrera GTs that I saw there today, and I immediately started taking pictures. I said to my dad, "no one is going to take pictures of mine, that's for sure." We walked around for a while and then as we were ready to leave I see a guy walking over to my car. He gives it the once over and then pulls out his phone and takes 3 or 4 pictures of it from various angles. I mean, I really like my car, but I was a little shocked that in a crowd of 1000 Porsches someone would give mine a second glance. So, that was cool.

POST 16Original post

I just got home after a trip to visit my Mom and Dad, with a side trip to the Hershey Swap meet. The first road trip of the year ... about 700 miles of driving over three days. I took a point-and-shoot camera with me to the swap meet and snapped a few pics. Pulling into the parking lot is fun ... I felt very safe leaving my car here: The first thing you notice ... cars are commonplace here that would draw a crowd almost anywhere else: I even saw another Mirage 996 Cab -- the only other one I've ever seen, outside of a couple "for sale" ads on-line: The KoB-mobile, at home with its brethren: Some of the cars in the parking lot reminded me of man's incredible creatvitity when it comes to getting stuff approved by the DMV for street use. Like this: And this: And especially this:

POST 17Original post

Of course, there are cars for sale. It's a good thing that I can't fit in a 356, because there were some nice ones, although I guess you can't see so much of this one: I couldn't tell if anyone wanted to buy this 911, or if the offers were coming in on the trailer: Of course, there were several project cars for sale, also: This guy seems to be wondering, "If I buy this, will she make me sleep in the garage?" The sign on the trailer may explain where this car came from:

POST 18Original post

It seemed like there were track cars all over the place ... which is fine with me: I swear, just looking at this car and thinking about g forces made my neck hurt: As far as I could tell, this car is entirely comprised of Stuff That Makes It Go and Stuff That Makes It Stop: Rennline had plenty of automotive eye candy at their booth:

POST 19Original post

In the "WTF?" category, there was a Karmann Ghia Boxster, or maybe it's a Karmann Boxster Ghia, or ... hell, I have no idea: And, my favorite Parking Lot Attraction ... the LS6-powered 914. 525 crank HP in a 2500 pound package. My pictures really don't do it justice, as everywhere you look there are custom fabricated parts. And any time they fired it up, they drew a crowd: All in all, it was a fun day wandering around, looking at cars, and chatting with the similarly afflicted. Not a bad way to spend a sunny Saturday.

POST 20Original post

Saturday was a beautiful day at the Hershey Swap Meet. Lots of Porsches and spectators made for a very unique experience. Thanks to everyone that stopped by the Function-First booth to chat and check out the products we had on display! And for anyone skeptical about using your Porsche as a daily driver, the entire booth fit in my 996 - canopy, table, and all!

POST 21Original post

Very nice turn out to swap meet at Hershey park what a beautiful day nothing bets a sea of porsche's had a great time

POST 23Original post

Were there many 996 parts and vendors at the swap meet?

POST 24Original post

A lot of vendors not much stuff for 996's but a lot of 996 cars never seen so much in one place

POST 25 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I agree with that. My dad commented several times how amazed be was at the variety. He was amazed that he didn't feel like he saw the same car twice. I was surprised there weren't more 991s around. Tons of 944s and 928s. Veeeeery few Cayennes which isn't all that surprising given that soccer games are on Saturdays. Good number of boxters and caymans but the majority if the cars were 911s.
