I've noticed that some aftermarket transmission mounts for the 996 also reference it as a part for the 986/987 engine mounts (ie. Rennline HD Transmission & Engine Mount). Does this mean I can essentially use a 986/987 engine mount as a transmission mount in my 996? ONly reason I'm asking is that the OEM Porsche part for the 986/987 engine mount is cheaper than the 996 engine mount. For clarity, this is in regards to the rubber bushing enclosed in a metal sleeve that needs to be pressed into the transmission assembly. Thanks!

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

re-read... disregard first post.. if part numbers interchange in the aftermarket then the part should physically fit, although durometer of factory parts may be an issue
Ah, thanks for the reply.. The OEM part numbers do not interchange which lead me to inquire. But I think you're correct in that the durometer is probably different.
I do know the Boxster mount is pretty flexible, can't remember how soft the Carrera mount is (might have one at shop to 'compare')
