Wife and I (late 40s early 50s, married over 25 years), do not have children. Not our choice. When I met my wife, I came with a dog. The short gaps between our dogs have always been sad....we have always trained and worked to have very well adjusted and behaved dogs. Wife is walking our current dog Luke. 70 pound standard silver poodle. More dog than our beagle used to be. Nothing fru fru about my boy. Our dog is trained to walk off leash. Imagine a dog able to walk off leash in Manhattan. That is our boy Luke. Wife is walking him in our hood. 992 targa goes by. He hears sound. No command stops him. Guess it sounds like a 996. He races to see car. Daddy drives a black 996 c2. Meets 992 at stop sign, sees it is not daddy, runs back to momma. Will be my best dog, 996 story. Here is my boy.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. My beagle is hardly low maintenance, like the car, we love her, our boxer on the other hand is pretty low maintenance.
I'll bet a properly trained dog would be able to listen for bore scoring or impending IMS doom.
Ours are more like inside only house cats. Good girls both though.

The dog I came with was a beagle. I bottle raised him from 2 weeks of age. We had him for 14 years. He was wonderful but was indeed high maintenance. Could only go off leash with him for 500 feet and he would pick up a scent, I am sold on the standard poodle. I don’t think I will have a different breed. And no one knows his breed. Always surprised he is a standard poodle.

Wonderful story. Sounds like you have a beautiful wife too. Glad you have so much to share together. Keep healthy and enjoy life!
Awesome! Thanks for this. Totally agreed that our lives are made better by having a pet or two. They know all our sounds and patterns. We have 2 cats that will be waiting at the door when either of us come in. (of course, they make it look like they are not waiting) They hear the car pulling in or the doors closing or who knows... They keep our hearts a little lighter I think.
Owning my 996 is a blessing and a curse, a blessing because its beautiful to look at and drives like a dream, and a curse because every time I take it out for a drive my two delinquent Labs, Weazer (yellow male, 11 yrs old) and Lilly (black female, 6 yrs old) run up my credit card bills ordering food for delivery and watching pay per view **** on cable TV!
My malti-poo recognizes my wife 997 sound and will run to the garage door when she is one block away. He also recognizes my BMW engine sound. Dogs have great hearing.

pfff.. my dog goes and gets my iPhone, launches the Life 360 tracking app to monitor when my wife leaves work, her speed, destination, and arrival time. Barking is so old school.

Love this. Our 2 Chihuahuas barely notice when I pull in the driveway in the 996 but they go crazy when the wife is coming home in the Honda Pilot starting at about 2 blocks out.
