Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

25 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

Lost my job today. Lay off due to no work. This is going to make my life real interesting. Our projects kept getting pushed back from the developers due to the fact the banks will not lend the money for their projects. Anyway, does anyone need a Civil Designer? Sorry for off topic but I just needed to vent.

POST 2Original post

condolences, market's hurting everybody, enjoy your time off though. get out there and drive!

POST 3Original post

I hope economy recovers qwickly also, but does give you a chance to re-invent yourself if that helps.

POST 4Original post

as an attorney in private practice, I always thought that I was somewhat recession proof, but things are slower on my end as well. Small slumps never had a real negative impact on me, but I am now also feeling the economy's slowness.....but it won't last forever. Stay positive and grab what you can for now to make ends meet. Best of luck. J

If you feel like moving out of the beautiful mountains and clean air, there are tons of jobs in engineering in Dallas. The steel crane is the new bird of Texas. I own a security alarm company and an audio/video design company and although the residential market is down, the commercial market is nuts for those who want to go out and get it. Did I mention that Texas is flat, hot as hell and about 90% humidity 6 months of the year?

What is wrong with the economy? GDP #s today confirm we are not in a recession. Tired of all the negative comments! Enjoy life and live beneath your means!!!!!

The mountains can be a sight. I would miss them. But I would not call the air all that clean. I seen some brown haze that was on the scary side when driving down to Denver. I have thought about Texas, hot weather I would welcome. Humidity I can deal with. I am truly sick of the snow and cold. Just as long as I can bring my guns. Worse comes to worse Texas might be ok.

POST 10Original post

That sucks - I wish you the best. If I lost my job I would only last about 6 months. My brother and I have a bet about whether or not a recession is forthcoming. I say that with the recent spike in gas and energy, it is going to tip the econ into recession this year. For the record, I would rather live on Mars than in Texas - especially in the summer. Yuck.

POST 11 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

well if I lived in Texas I wouldn't have to worry about snow tires.

No location in your profile, so I guess you're on another planet? Anyone remember the t-shirt during the Reagan years? "ARM THE UNEMPLOYED"

Maybe in Dallas, but Houston and San Antonio, we are like, "what the hell is snow"?!?!?!

Hey RAC, Hang in there! Just another speedbump to get over. You'll get over it just like any others!

POST 18 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks everyone. It's hard to stay focused at times. After a day of networking my contacts it is really grim in my part of the area. So looks like my job search truly will be looking at other states.

POST 20Original post

RAC, sorry to hear about the job. Been there... done that! Hang in there... I did, but had to hang on a little longer than I expected.

Live beneath your means? Where have you been? Clearly not in the USA. I remember moving to NYC in 1994 and every other car on the road was a pile of trash. Now, virtually every car is a brand new leased SUV, and in this mkt. I have not sympathy for people complaining about gas. I'd be a lot happier if my savings account actually offered me some real savings interest, but I guess it's better to bail out the imbeciles who gambled on an overpriced home than to vindicate those of us who were prudent and "lived beneath our means". Next time round, I am going to spend like our government.

Might be a good time to learn to trade the stock and option market. Live independent and live where you want.

POST 24Original post

Hang in there.. I was layed off last year (computer animation) and thought the world was conspiring against me and was pretty pissed at first. I took several months off while deciding where I was going to go. I decided to use it as an opportunity to make a new start in a completely new environment, so I searched for and got a job on the east coast (I was in San Diego). I'm so glad I did, and as my Mom always told me: everything happens for a reason, and everything always seems to work out for the best. Now I'm happier than ever and am having new adventures as I begin a new phase of my life.
