Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

3 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

A 996 "myths" section has been added. If any others can be thought of, let me know and I will add them to the text. Buying guide Thanks Chad

POST 2Original post

Nice work Chad, again. I have wondered about the ratio of the 3.4's failures compared to the 3.6. Not going by much info or any in kind of in depth study, but on this board it seems almost split (?). If the 3.4 has that many more failures, relative term, could a factor also simply be related to time on the road? In other words if the 3.6 came out first followed by the 3.4 could this reverse the ratio, if there is one? Just some thought. Again, nicely done Chad, I would have not been able to put it al down like you did

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Note - the 3.6 does have internal oiling updates versus the 3.4L. Unknown at what extent. But I would assume Porsche's usual methodology. Progressive upgrades as the model goes through its tenure. C.
