POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Came across this pic, and recalled some discussion of late regarding the suitability of these cars for "family duty." Not only do the kids fit great (now 6 and 4), the drone of the flat six puts them out (either that or I had a slight exhaust leak into the passenger compartment!). I've also added a few recent pics of the car.

POST 2Original post

nice color and cute pic man!!!! made me smile.

POST 4Original post

That's funny. And the car looks great BTW. With the Queen and Pygmy Date palms I would have sworn that was FL.

POST 5Original post

That's a great pic. You're car is looking very good and props on the beautiful family also. Very cute kids.

POST 6Original post

NIce car - I've got a similar set up, but with only one little guy. But here's a question I have: Do they make booster seats with a 5-pt harness? The reason I ask is that when I have my little guy in the back (Recaro booster) and the wife in the front, he always leans around the side to try and see or he has his head forward a bit. My wife is always worried that if we get hit or I stop short his face is going to meet the back of the seat, which is very close to him. I believe that the belt should tighten up before that happens, but she is still worried.

I've two of those in my BMW (never put them in the 911) but Paul996 has one in the back of his 996. Great seats!

POST 8Original post

Great pics and wonderful car. I think that color shows off the lines of your car perfect. Beautiful color.

POST 9Original post

I have a child's seat strapped in all the time... my 2 year old daughter prefers to ride in the Porsche than the Ferrari. She said the Ferrari is too noisy sounds like plane, from her bad cross ocean plane riding experience with her mom....

Some kids really have it tough! Having to choose between a Porsche and a Ferrari - that borders on child abuse!

I have them in my cars - wouldn't have any other seat!

Do I see a drinking CUP?? Without a lid?? Held by a ....child?? Turn in your Rennlist card at once! Seriously, AWESOME color blue. With the aero bits and red calipers, the car looks perfect! I should get me some of those '02 Carrera lightweight rims.

Yeah, food isn't even allowed in the same zipcode as my car.

You sure wouldn't approve of my 911...my 4-year-old climbs around the car like a jungle gym. The other day, I gave her some strawberry milk with no lid...she didn't spill it, but she did regurgitate it onto the back of my passenger seat and rear floor mat. I asked her if she was OK at that point--she replied "yes" immediately before doing it again. There are little pieces of candy all over the back that I regularly have to vacuum out. I suppose I could avoid this by driving a minivan or SUV, but who in their right mind would want to do that?

POST 15Original post

It's amazingly funny to see how different each of us treat our cars. Brings a smile to my face. Not sure if this is a little known fact, but I have no kids. My interior is spic and span. I don't even like it when I see bits of dirt on the passenger floor mat. Driver side - can't really help it. I just make sure to have the detail guy vacuum it. And then the dash... I don't like it when I see bits of dust on it which you can only see when sunlight hits it. LOOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLL

POST 16Original post

Nice pics, my 2 1/2 y/o daughter absolutely loves to ride in the cab with the top down.

POST 17Original post

I would never have known!!! Is that the Recaro Como? -Update: I just did some more research and found out that the seat is the Recaro Young Sport, but the harness is only up to 40 lbs, then it's just a seat belt with a booster seat.

POST 18Original post

Great pictures Scott. You have a beautiful family and a pretty cool car. My kids still ride in the back of mine. It's a tight squeeze, now that all three are teenagers.

POST 19Original post

Cute first pic! They must have been tired huh? Nice color... nice car!

Easy solution to that, carry around a clean micro fiber towel (or, my preferred method, micro fiber brush) to wipe the dust away at sunny stop lights!

Been in my 996 for over 2 years now. Guys at the get together get a kick out of the Recaro baby seat.

POST 22 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks for the kind words guys. And abuot that cup, no way would I let one of my kids drink from an open container in my car (the cup, if I recall correctly, had marshmallows or some other benign substance inside). I've also ingrained in them the rule about their shoes touching only carpeting!

I had a friend who was engaged see my Recaro in my Audi several months ago (before I had the C4S) and his comment was "I want a child just so I can get one of those seats!" The only issue with the Recaro is that they don't make them in yellow.

POST 24Original post

Thanks for the picts. I can easily justify to my wife 911s are practical

POST 26Original post

I just ended up selling my Corvette in order to get a "more practical" everyday driver. Now my wife and 3 yr old can ride along and I get better gas mileage than in the vette. Great forum by the way.....

I'm glad I'm not the only one! My wife thinks I have some obsessive compulsive disorder... of course her car is a sea of sesame seeds, wrappers, crumbs and sticky spots. My 4 year old son loves going for rides in the 996, too!

Excellent, you scared me for a minute! Marshmallows are OK, unless one falls to the floor, and one of the kids squishes it with their sneaker, and tracks it all over the place!

POST 31Original post

I also have a new addition(no, not a TT, but 1st Baby) coming in July. My 99 C2 came with the "Porsche Baby seat" as a option. Anyone have anything positive or negative to tell me about this seat....please chime in.....my wife, the boss also wants to know. And where is the best place to buy a Recaro Baby Seat reasonably priced?

Hey, my wife knows I'm OCD and knows how much I'm obsessive about my cars. She knows better than to mess them up. She has made the mistake in the past of allowing our kid to eat in my DD... I told her at the time... he messes up the car, then you clean it up... sure enough he messed up the car. She then made the second mistake of making the false promise to clean it up. She won't do that again.

WHAHAHAHHAHA pretty funny in a cute way. Don't mess up those painted seat backs!

What - and your FX35 isn't an SUV?? I routinely drive my family around - 2 girls (ages 7 & 9) and my wife (5' nothing). Wife sits with the seat up closer to the dash, and my older daughter sits behind her for the legroom. My younger one sits behind me, with her legs draped over the center hump and feet on the console. Great for hill country driving with the top down 'round Austin way.

POST 35Original post

Yeh the leg room is a little bit of an issue. Funny I do not remember that being a problem growing up in the back seat of an 74' 911S. Anyway both my girls (6 & 3.5) feel asleep on the way home this past weekend with the top down with this set up....... My wife is 5' nothing also, so the older kid goes behind her, but I like the seat back and my 3.5 year old freaks out. I try to get her to straddle the seat (without slamming her foot in the door when I close it) or put her feet over the center. Either way once we get going any complaining goes away.

POST 36Original post

great pic...... somthing to show the wifey to...

POST 37Original post

thanks for posting the picture of the cab with two car seats. I was wondering how that configuration would work out. We have two kids 5 and 3.5 - hubby has 996 coupe. I imagine the highback seats look a little odd from the rear, but whatever!!!!!
