I want to install an auxiliary oil cooler, but I want it to be as passive as possible. Meaning, I don't want to tap into the oil system. What I want to do is draw the oil from the upper oil level of the sump using an electric oil scavenge pump, pump through the cooler and back to the sump. Using an oil temp sensor, the pump will activate only at a preset temperature, leaving the original water/oil cooler in place and doing its job. The question is, is there a good place to draw, and return, oil from the sump preferably near the top of the oil level? Thanks for any help in advance.

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
