Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

17 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Was heading home about half an hour ago, one mile from the house, in a construction area and who should jump out from behind some construction cones but a nice big buck! He literally jumped right onto the car so I had no time to stop. It looks like the damage is limited to the hood (which is likely toast) and the driver's side headlamp. And the deer, of course, who made a sort of, "Mother f@cker, you just HIT me!" noise. Ah, it sucks but it is what it is. Will be calling Allied Insurance in the morning.

Something about this time of year. Hit a mule deer late at night on July 3 of 2009 out on 50 highway outside of Ely NV. Anyhow, you're ok and the car doesn't read like it suffered too horribly at the hands, errr, hooves of the deer. Get 'er fixed and hit the road. Uh, figuratively hit the road.

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Damage is mostly to the hood. The front driver headlamp needs to be replaced and there's a small dent on the front driver's side wing that will pop out with the paintless dent guys. All in all, I was really lucky it wasn't worse. You take your luck where you can get it.

POST 4Original post

Damn that sucks...I'm just waiting for that to happen to me living here in the deer capital of the U.S. Take the car to a reputable shop and it will be as good as new. Remember to take photos to show any prospective future buyers that the damage was only minor. Good luck with the repair.

POST 6Original post

Bummer, but it happens. Good shop will make it like new.

POST 7Original post

Well, it could have been worse. . . Tommy Boy (4/10) Movie CLIP - The Deer Wakes Up (1995) HD - YouTube

POST 10Original post

Here in Nor Cal where I live, the deer are like rats. I've hit 3 in the last 10 years (not Porsche). They always come out of nowhere and dive into the car.

POST 12Original post

Yeah, try living in south Texas and hitting a wild hog .

POST 13Original post

I feel your pain, happened to me on the way home from Rennsport IV enroute to Vancouver just inside the Oregon border, the Damage was almost the same, hood and pass side headlight, do you have Litronics? if so you are in for shock on price there! The upside with hittng a large animal like this is you didn't end up with it in the car with you, could have been worse.

POST 17Original post

I hit a deer last year and totalled my ML. Then, I hit a bear with my new ML. I guess a mountain lion is next. Hate it.
