Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi all, my name is Kevan and I am new to the forum. I have a 996 Targa 2002 and the rear wiper is not working it looks like the pin from the top part has broken off. Does anyone know if this can be bought separately from having to buy the whole motor mechanism?

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thanks Nick, I'll have a look at them.

POST 4Original post

It is a sprung pin, are you sure it has not just corroded in its non engaged position? See photo of pin fully extended. I can push the pin back under spring tension until flush and it returns to the position shown.

POST 5 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Thank you, I will check that out.

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Martin, just to let you know. The pin was stuck, so I freed it up. But unfortunately it only popped out about 2mm so I'm guessing at some stage it has snapped the bottom half off. So thank you anyway as I have learned something I didn't know about the car.

POST 7 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi Martin, just to follow up great news. You were absolutely correct the WD40 must have freed it up over night it popped out this morning and the wiper is now working as intended. Thank you so much for your advice.
