POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm in the market for a 996 so I have this on my mind. I'm not too picky about color but there are definitely some I prefer over others. Some are definitely rare and I haven't seen them all but for those that I have seen I think Lapis Blue is my favorite. Cobalt Blue and Guards Red come in not too far behind. I haven't seen the Basalt Black on a 996 but it looks pretty good on the 997 that I had seen it on. It gives the standard black a little more character. What about you?

POST 2Original post

#1 White, black looks so good but it won't stay clean and shiny for long. Not to mention it's like getting into an oven after sitting in the sun all day.

POST 3Original post

If the time machine was working I would go back and order a new '99 in Pastel Yellow with a natural leather interior. Unfortunately the machine was not working, so mine is the incredibly rare black with black interior... Daryll

POST 4Original post

3az Ocean Blue Metallic...(with silver sport classic II's, and silver side stripes) I might be biased...

POST 6 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Speed yellow looks really cool, but I don't think I'd want to own a yellow car. I tend to like unassuming things...

POST 7Original post

My favorite color is white on all my cars. I love red cars, but don't want to own one. My cab is seal grey... so go figure!

POST 8Original post

I think these cars look great in yellow. They look great in general, but I think they look better in the darker colors like black and blue (like mine), but maybe that's because there are so many silver ones out there.

If you love Lapis Blue Metallic, it's required by law that you also love Ocean Blue Metallic. My first 996 (back when they were new) was Lapis Blue and my current 996 is Ocean Blue. It is not easy to tell the two apart. In the right light you can tell, but they look very similar in typical lighting. It's not "biased" when you actually do own the best color

POST 12Original post

Ocean Blue Metallic. I have arctic silver over red leather interior, which is great, but Ocean Blue kills it.

POST 13Original post

I like subtle, sophisticated colors like this one.

Looks like half Janis Joplin and half Picasso

POST 15Original post

^^^ Slightly reminiscent of this one Beat me to it !!!

POST 18Original post

Porsche has made some really good blues and reds. My top three, Guards Red, Lapis Blue & Speed Yellow But I am fond of my Orient Red Metallic

POST 19 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Quotes source post: 15999541

I may have seen OBM without even realizing it! I googled the two colors and I can't see a difference.

POST 20Original post

Arena red or Orient red -- hard to find, so I settled for boring old Arctic silver.

POST 24Original post

White all day!!! I just think there is something so elegant about white cars. Red to me is my least favorite, a red sports car is cliche in my opinion.

Wow I usually hate green as a green on tan E34 540i six speed left a sour taste in my mouth but thats really nice

POST 26Original post

Partial to my OCB but I like yellow or white.

POST 27Original post

I tend to like white and most bright colors but speed yellow is way on top for me. I have two SY cars and plan to at some point make my 67 912 SY....many wont like that....

POST 28Original post

Guards red, speed yellow, cobalt blue, arena red, orient metallic red, oak green, ocean blue. Black and gray cares bore me to tears.

POST 29Original post

Glacier White / Speed Yellow Best colors for the 996 lines.

POST 32 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I hadn't seen that before. That's awesome.

POST 33Original post

Ocean Jade, Zanzibar red, Orient Red, Arena Red, Rain forest green. Both Mine are boring silver but I keep looking!! I daily drive and silver looks good even when I cant clean it!

POST 34Original post

Quotes source post: 16000659

Normally do not like gold wheels, but that looks gorgeous with the green!

POST 36Original post

Quotes source post: 16000574

Man I am digging this green machine. Dark brown leather seats would set it off so nicely. Not usually a fan of gold anything, but those wheel totally work on this baby! Reminds me of Bimmers from the 80s. 👍

POST 37Original post

The various metallics and pearl paint available over the life of 996 chassis are few and far between. Midnight Blue Metallic i do also really like the lister who has the Vesuvius purple one and Iris Blue Pearl.

POST 38Original post

After seeing all these cars...makes me realize I need to recast my vote....My favorite is any color car that is well maintained. A clean well cared for 996 looks great in any color....

Guards Red and Speed Yellow are favorites but I have to say, after seeing this pic, Ocean Jade Metallic is right up there too . Black and silver (my color) are my least favorites.

POST 41Original post

Artic silver for me with brown leather interior. I love the classic look. Other colors like yellow and red are great also but not for me!

POST 42Original post

meridian metallic with cinnamon brown interior

POST 44Original post

SY, GR, or Blue with black interior. Wife said no to SY so got my second choice.

POST 45Original post

My 99' cab is Ocean Metallic Blue, and my 01' turbo coupe is Guards Red. I really love both colors, but I've still never seen a stock 911 color that I didn't like. I don't think they offered a color for these cars that doesn't look great on them.

POST 46Original post

Another vote for Midnight Blue Metallic here. My second choice is Zanzibar Red Metallic.

That Iris Blue Metallic is pretty tasty!

POST 49Original post

Quotes source post: 16001124

I would kill for an Ocean Jade Metallic coupe with Nephrite Green interior. It's not even that I really like the color that much, I just love how ridiculous it is.

POST 50Original post

Speed Yellow, with Arena Red being a solid second. Did they make any 996s in Racing Yellow? Depending on the model I prefer it, but either one works!

POST 51Original post

Dark Teal Metallic all the way!! Definitely not biased... I also love how ridiculous Ocean Jade is...

POST 53Original post

Quotes source post: 15999354

Id love to see some pictures of your 996 if you wouldnt mind sharing a few? I just picked up an Ocean Blue 99 cab with silver sport classic IIs. Needs a paint correction, a new top and the rims refinished but I might have to throw the same side decals on that you have if they look good, which Im sure they do

POST 54Original post

I have loved the unusual Porsche colors for a long time, the Ocean Jade coupe was one of my favorite cars, but as a Yellow guy nothing gets me more than my PTS Ferrari Yellow coupe with painted hardback sport seats, Yellow is Cool Rich

POST 57Original post

Quotes source post: 15999354

ocean blue and midnight blue metallic are both incredible. Ocean blue has a bit more purple. atlas and slate gray metallic are also awesome. basalt black is always great. there is a rare forest green Ive seen but dont know the name.

POST 59Original post

My first 996 was an 02 seal grey metallic. Sold it after deciding I wanted an “early build “ .1,,,couldn’t find any white over nephrite green 😎 with sport seats.
