First little job on my recently acquired C2 was to fit a Renn Classic hazard light phone bracket. In doing so, I discovered that I have what appears to be a genuine Porsche microphone behind the little grille [that I needed to remove to lift up the dash top instrument cluster]. The car has CDR-23 and Bose. Nothing about a phone kit or PCCM. No obvious related cable behind the HU or climate control. While I haven’t (yet) tried tracing it back, I’m puzzled as to what it’s for - unless this is the microphone for the Bose volume adjustment? Any thoughts? TVM!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.
4 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

Yep, I should think that’s for the Bose AudioPilot noise compensation system. The microphone gauges the cabin noise and adjusts the hifi output to compensate.
Thanks, that was my first guess, so I’m assuming this will somehow work with PCCM+ should I ever get that far
Yes, you should be able to plug the mic into the head unit, I believe it’s essentially the same part that would come with PCCM+, same connector etc. Yours is actually the perfect location for the mic and I had to take my dash apart to replicate this on my own (non Bose) PCCM+ installation.
