My 997.2 battery died (it's old and I was sitting in a parking lot with the radio, AC, and lights on). AAA gave me a jump start. Got back home and charged it with a trickle charger, but when I started the car again a "rain sensor faulty" warning came on. Too much of a coincidence?
You have to replace a battery like that anyway so that’s the logical starting point. The 987 series of cars certainly will do strange things when the battery is weak, running in the family wouldn’t be a surprise.
Yes, replace the battery due to the age and the fact that it left you stranded. As boris noted, these are the kind of oddball issues that suddenly pop up when a battery starts failing.
