Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

Meares, A good PPI is going to cost at least $300 depending on what you want inspecting. 3 years ago, my '87 cost $350 including leak down test and compression test.
My quote for a PPI was $500 including leakdown and compression on a 964. They reduced the cost of subsequent service as I had them go from the PPI to fix everything needed, including a full tune up which would have included a compression/leakdown. I had them defer the more expensive parts of the review until they confrimed minimal other needs, and could have quit at the $2-3 hundred range if the car was failing due to items found based on drive/inspections.
a hundred dollars would strictly be a "no touch" visual inspection. Five hundred would be top notch inspection with leak down and comp.
thx guys
I think most would agree, $300 or $500 it is the best money spent. I looked at one that needed a top end rebuild and was in a pretty bad accident but fixed, best money i ever spent to find that out. could have costed me more than the car....
Drive the car - if it feels underpowered you'll know you need a full inspection to see what the issues are, if it runs/drives/feels good, you can usually be fine with a visual inspection on a lift. Make sure you go to a shop that stakes their reputation on their work, and that you can trust - these kinds of shops don't cut corners and actually stand by their PPIs.
