Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Hi everyone. I have a 2004 Carrera 4S Cabriolet that I inherited from my late father. It's been leaking oil towards the front (firewall) and I decided to pull the motor and transmission to take care of any leaks, along with refreshing the AOS system. While taking it apart, this piece of the clutch slave cylinder just kind of fell out. Is it supposed to? Or is something wrong and do I need a new slave cylinder? Thanks in advance for you help - this is my first time dealing with something like this.

Its just a push rod and it can fall out. As long as u didnt push the clutch in the seal in the cylinder should be fine. I would clean it all up, the boot will retain the rod when its "snaps" back onto the cyl and when u reinstall be very careful that the rod engauges the clutch lever in the bell housing.
