Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

I'm currently in the process of buying my first Porsche. I'm looking at a 2003 911 convertible with about 50,000 miles. 1. Whats a fair price for this car? The asking price is at about $30k. 2. What are a few of the major things I need to be concerned about with this car? Please forgive me as this is my first post. Looking forward to your responses.

POST 2Original post

I would suggest that you pay for a Pre-Purchase Inspection (PPI) from a reputable Porsche shop. It can save you a lot of money, if you buy one that has been poorly maintained or has a major problem you will forever kick yourself for not spending the $$ to have someone knowledgable look at the car. The price seems okay but for most of these cars condition, maintenance, and options really determine what the value is.

POST 3Original post

I agree to have a Porsche place check it over for you. They know what is expected to work on these cars. DO NOT be convinced to have the dealer do a PPI. I have a 99 C2 Cab and little things were overlooked by the dealer which wasn't noticed by me until a month or so later when I took the car out at night time. Inside lights and door lights not working and the gas cap door not locking. (I didnt even know that it should lock hehe). Luckily my wife took out a warrenty during the sale and this covered a slightly noisy gear box during the first year which was covered when the change was made. The price looks OK to me. Mine was $27500 with 44K on it in April of last year. Don't be blinded by any mods on the vehicle. They tend to make a buyer look through rose tinted glasses. Hope all works out fine for you.
