A friend just purchased a no-miles (around 750 miles/year) 2000 Boxster . We lowered the top on it a few days ago, and I noticed something different between the operation of the 986 and my '09 987.2 . The 987.2 lowers the door windows by about 1" when you unlatch the center latch on the top, then the top can be put down. Once it's down and the clamshell closes - the window returns to full-up position automatically . Also - when putting the top back up, the window lowers as the clamshell opens, then automatically returns to full-up position when the center latch is latched to the windshield header. On my friend's '00 986 - the windows never automatically go back up. They have to be manually raised. They do go down automatically as expected, but up - doesn't happen. Is this correct for the 986?

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

It has been some years for me Don, but I do not recall having to ever manually raise my windows back up after moving the top either direction? The only pre requisite that I recall is having the parking brake on to move the top, and that was about it. Maybe I'm not recalling correctly, but it seems like I would remember something like this as much as I had the top down on my 2001 986 , so hopefully someone else will chime in to see if my memory is still in check.
