Soz, not driven both only a 996 and my car. Talking to people who've driven both - the 996 has definitly moved the goal post forward. Not surprising really. I don't think you'll derive anymore enjoyment from the new 996TT though. Its as fast as the 993TT, but has more stablility contraptions. I can say you have to be driving like a complete utter idiot to loose the 993TT, its a very stable car, and I suppose the 996TT would be nigh on impossible to loose. It really boils down to looks (inside and out) and how much money you have. You can afford the 996TT and don't mined the depreiation you'll loose (compared to a 993TT) then get one. If you not mad about the looks and like the 993TT, then you save a lot of money for a car that'll give you as much enjoyment.

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I know a chap who's selling a 993 turbo4, N reg about 40k, RHD, about £48,000, just if anyone fancies one.
993 is a much better looker than the 996
...and has some 911 soul you definitely can't find on the 996
is it an air cooled thing thing that gives it the dare i say it, SOUL ?
no comprendo senor
im saying is it like this, the air cooled 993 is almost like the last of the line , the 996 seem to have lost some of the legend status that the older air cooled 911 had ,, to me any way
Yep exactly what I meant, Marki
Also the water cooled engine is quieter mechanically, and so may have less character because of that.
marki's rght about this - it ties in with the thoughts of all the 993 and ex 993 owners I have met. Probably a major part of the magic of the 356 (in its day). I can still smell it - beautiful!
Is it really worth the extra money for a 996 turbo over the previous 993? I know the new model is probably safer at the extreme limit due to various improvements etc, but the 993's handling might be described as more fun on the public road's in everyday driving. 993 engine sounds gorgeous too! Anyone out there that's driven both? What do you think?
