Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Finished up this project today. I removed, sanded, prepped, primed and painted the center console in Atlas Grey to match the exterior. My first attempt at automotive painting and although not perfect, I'm really happy with the results. While I was at it, I put in new temp and fan switches on the HVAC and also added a new Aluminum shift knob from IXI Gears. Along with the carbon fiber treatment on the steering wheel I did a couople months ago, the interior is coming along quite nicely I think. Cheers

Don't sell yourself short, @RedTex -- That looks fantastic! Great job. How long did it take for you to disassemble the center console and remove it? Thinking of doing the same on mine - either painting or wrapping.

POST 4Original post

Thanks Foodbiker. Actually, removing/installing the console is not hard, maybe 15-20 minutes. A couple of youtube vids on this, plus I referred to the service manual. For me the hard part was removing the lid over the rear storage bin as I found no instructions, even in the service manual, and once removed remembering how to put it back together, but I did figure it out. I considered it, but I think wrapping would be a huge challenge unless you are experienced in doing it. I actually tried to wrap the upper front of the console, but was not happy with it so decided to paint it as well. Was a bit of an intimidating project, but the reward is very satisfying. I'd be happy to offer any help if needed. good luck.

Many thanks, @RedTex -- I had successfully airbrushed it (touch-up work) in-place, but subsequently damaged it again when reinstalling a seat this fall -- and figured I'd give it another go -- assuming I could easily remove it. Good to know that disassembly didn't take that long. As for vinyl wrapping, I'm rolling up my sleeves in the next few weeks per vinyl wrapping my 987 hardtop and hopefully will be able to develop my wrapping skills. If the results are meh, I'll just remove it and repaint it again. Either way, great to know that it's not a terrible chore and I appreciate the heads-up. Again, great job, @RedTex !

Is this the Stone Grey interior? Turned out great!
