Tonight I was driving my 1999 996 C4 and upon attempting to hit it pretty hard from stop the car completely shut down. The engine stopped all light on dash went on and the interior lights came on. The car re-started just fine and seems to be fine. Any ideas why this shut down? I may have red-lined it, but I don't think I was that close. Not sure if there is a Rev limit ignition cut out, but I guess I would expect that to be intermittent. Thanks!

Coverage and how to read this overview
Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

I have hit the Rev limiter several times on my 2000 C2 and it does not shut the car down. It does exactly what one would expect.
