Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

So My car is at my Indy getting new precision works shifter cables installed and it seems that the gear selection lever on the transmission side has a stud, not a ball end. All the pics Ive seen of shifter cables(numeric racing/ precision works etc) all have the ball cup ends on the transmission side. Is there a cap that is supposed to go on top of the Stud thats missing?

POST 2Original post

I believe those r early style posts. Numeric sells different ends, not sure about your cables

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

All of the nice shifter cable mfgs sell the 996 cables with the ball cup ends. Has anyone been able to make the ball cups ends on these early posts?

POST 4Original post

You should be able to get ends that have a pass through ball end (like on drop links) that will fit over the post and then be held on with a circlip. Ask the manufacturer

POST 5Original post

Looks like it would take a clevis end like a 997 sequential shift cable end. If it does, I have a few spares I can sell you.
