Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

5 eligible posts · 0 unverified posts · 1 discussions match the subject in their title or opening post.

0 acknowledgements have no verified action link; they do not establish a repair result.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

Does it even exist for the 996. I've looked around and it seems like costs are high and coverage is low. Any thoughts? Happy Thanksgiving!

POST 2Original post

Looks like you've gotten no responses so I'll give you a bump because I'm interested. Bought a cheap BMW and dropped a few thousand into it and then promptly totaled it. Looks like with the receipts I'm going to make out ok with the insurance company but might want to buy an extended warranty on this next one. I understand the risks/hassles. Anyone have a good experience with one of the multitude of companies?

POST 3Original post

On my previous 2001 C4 I tried to get a warranty but it was too old and they would not write one.

POST 4Original post

Yup, all 996s by now are too old for aftermarket warranty.

I had a company ready to sell me one, but their exclusion list was pretty much everything that could go wrong with a car, any car, and not receive coverage.
