Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

The low beam Xenon headlights should angle up and down when first turned on and up when high beam is selected. Mine are both stuck in the up position which means I cop plenty of abuse while night driving. I recently replaced the main ignition switch and I wonder if I have interfered with the light switch. Any thoughts? Many thanks in anticipation.

POST 2Original post

If they are factory installedm the PIWIS can scan them and spot any problems; if they are post delivery, you may need to look at the control module that operates the electric motors......

POST 3 / ORIGINAL POSTEROriginal post

JFP, thanks for that. They are original equipment. I live about three hours from the city so tend to do some minor repairs myself with the aid of this site: brake light switch, main ignition switch etc however, if all else fails I'll list it for attention at its next service.

POST 4Original post

I thought they did the adjustment at ignition on, not lights on. what if you try lights on and then turn the key to run? I just tried on my 99 C4 and that's what it does. I also hear the same motor noises from the front when I just turn the key to run.
