Coverage and how to read this overview

Counts describe captured discussions, not unique people or a diagnosis. Author identities are not reliably stored. Exact duplicate evidence is counted once across matching discussions; one discussion counts at most once per action/state. Multiple repairs reported together remain a combination. Suggestions and failed attempts do not establish a fix. Matches cover whole discussions and can include related faults, model variants and incomplete threads.

POST 1Original post

Need input … I am deep in internal debate between an Arctic silver / black 2012 997.2 S Cab that’s a one owner car, and a blue / black 2014 Carrera coupe, that’s a two owner Florida car. The Cab is in really nice condition with some excellent options and upgrades. Original sticker was $118k. It has higher miles (85k) and I can buy it for the low $50k’s from a local specialty dealer. Has newish tires /brakes/service. It was under a long-term maint program and has records to prove it. Alternately, I am looking at a 2014 991.1 Coupe that’s not an S. It’s a two owner Florida car w lower miles (54k) and has only a PDK and premium package for options; original stick of $98k. The price for the 991.1 is $64k but I think they may have some wiggle room. Both are very nice cars … my sense is that the 997.2 will be a blast to drive, to drive to golf, to and cart my two little grandsons on ice cream escapades. Alternately the 991.1 will be a quieter more serene daily driver, with less power and feel (due to electric assist steering) … having a hard time making a decision and would like anyone’s input. LJ ps - I have a 2018 Cayenne GTS for a daily driver/hauler/ puller … it’s a little mule.

997 without doubts because for me this model is the last real Porsche . After the 997 I don’t like them any more as before.

POST 3Original post

I think you’re right… not that the 991 isn’t one, the 997 feels like a pure sport car. Plus the price difference is pretty big. And, even though the 997 is a little smaller in terms of dimensions, it’s actually a little heavier, which make it very sticky. Last, it also give me something to look forward to if I decide to upgrade in a few years!

POST 4Original post

997.2 all the way! Smaller car and the connection to the road is so much better… it’s the one car I have no-plans to sell…

POST 5Original post

Love the car and also the awesome surfing motif man-cave. Endless Summer poster is perfect.

POST 6Original post

Thanks man… I guess I collect vintage boards but it needs to stop (running out of room) yet I keep rescuing them. Excuse the mess, I just finished a full in detail of the car and crap was everywhere sorry if I sandbagged the thread🤦‍♂️

POST 7Original post

Great info.. they’ve come along way since 99.

Also If you have right taken your decision, here some pictures of mine [emoji6]

POST 9Original post

What’s not to like? ^ I need some aqua shots

POST 10Original post

Lovely car. I like how yours allows light into the cabin with the top up. The one I bought had limo-dark tints on the windows (even on the windshield) … really happy the dealer was able to remove it as part of the deal. It will brighten things up when the top is up.

POST 11Original post

I like my 997 C4S as original as possible. The only thing that are not original are the wheels, but I prefere those

POST 12Original post

I like to tinker and mod, however anything I do can be removed and returned to stock with no permanent alterations . Nothing wrong with oem… I will say Porsche as a whole makes their cars look perfect from the drawing board

New (to me) baby Lovejoy (wife’s name is Joy) … 2012 997.2 .

POST 16Original post

Better get these two separated before things get serious!

POST 17Original post

Pretty sure this is what their first born will look like!

POST 18Original post

Through dna it could end up being an air cooled 😛

POST 19Original post

If it’s purely a weekend/fun car - I’d say 997.2 . I just got one and it’s a blast to drive!
